学术任职及奖励
《兽类学报》编委。IUCN/SSC灵长类专家组专家,中国生态学会动物学专业委员会委员、中国动物学会兽类学分会理事、中国灵长类学会常务理事,湖南省动物学会常务理事、湖南省生理学会副理事长。《科学通报》、《American Journal of Primatology》、《International Journal of Primatology》、《Primates》、《Behavior》、《Wildlife Biology》、《Zoological Research》、《Plos one》等杂志的审稿人。先后获得湖南省自然科学奖(二、三等奖,排名第一),湖南省五四青年奖章(记一等功),中国动物学会“青年科技奖”,中国生态学会“青年科技奖”、中国林学会“林业青年科技奖”,以“斯巴鲁生态保护奖”等。
科研、教学及学术活动
2002年开始先后在在西藏、云南、贵州、湖北和四川开展我国滇金丝猴、黔金丝猴、川金丝猴和怒江金丝猴行为生态与保护生物学研究,主持了国家自然基金面上项目4项、国家科技支撑、国家林业局等部省科研项目20多项。主要研究领域:以中国四种金丝猴(川金丝猴、滇金丝猴、黔金丝猴和怒江金丝猴)为研究对象,运用行为学、遗传学、内分泌学以及信息化学等研究手段解决金丝猴的繁殖策略、生活史、性信号、性选择等非人灵长类学及人类学的核心问题。此外,还开展珍稀濒危动物的健康状况监测、环境保护与教育、动物观赏旅游管理、生物多样性监测与调查相关研究。
主讲本科生《动物学》(生态学专业),硕士研究生《生物进化论》、《动物行为学研究方法和原理》、《生物统计分析》等课程。

在以第一作者/通讯作者《Science Advances》、《Science Bulletin》、《Biological Conservation》、《American Journal of Primatology》、《International Journal of Primatology》、《Journal of Zoology》等国际国内杂志发表SCI收录论文近30篇,与其他人合作在《Nature Genetic》、《Conservation Biology》、《Molecular Biology and Evolution》、《GigaScience》等杂志发表论文30多篇,参编专著一部《High Altitude Primates》(Springer New York)。系列成果被新华社、美国科学促进会、美国国家地理、英国BBC、《中国科学报》、科学网等媒体报道。
